I’m delighted they are having fun since that is what gaming is all about! I’m just not interested in splitting my time in that particular way. Now, POE was not likely to draw me in, but I ended up surprised by how many Diablo friends and streamers kicked off playing the Delirium League, or have been bouncing between the titles since the two events kicked off. To that end, Diablo 2 wasn't pay-to-win at the time of its release, unlike how Diablo 3 nearly ruined its reputation as a loot-based ARPG.
If it wasn’t self-evident (or if you missed the stream), I played day 1 of D3 Season 20, where I had a bunch of fun leveling up with a friend! That’s why I (personally) tend to stick with Diablo - it’s where my friends are. Diablo 2 stuck to its hardcore RNG roulette and made the game more gratifying for those who work hard for their loot. It was interesting in theory, but in practice, it worked out to be a little anti-climactic.

There is no amount of damage control or update they can do to ever fix that broken mess of a game. Mixing that with a place to buy all the best gear was a recipe for disaster. You can't even plan builds out and all the damage comes from critical hit damage or critical hit chance. On the other hand, D3’s Season 20 theme requires the players to be at least level 61 (where they start earning Death’s Breaths) before it becomes at all useful. There isn't any kind of thought process in Diablo 3. I’m also not a fan of micro-transactions, but that is an entirely different story. Its pretty much like PoE gets an expansion pack every 3 months, whereas Diablo 3 has had exactly two expansion packs in 7 years. I thank whatever mojo was working in the universe that brought me Torchlight 2, Grim Dawn Titan Quest, Path of Exile, Lineage 3 and Diablo 3 Now my Dual. The classes are unique, and the passive skill tree is gigantic, which equates to a ton of room to grow with your character.
That said, it does have some pretty cool features. There’s just something about the graphics that make me wish for something prettier. I hate to break it to everyone, but I’m not a fan of POE.
